PE made a point on Muse Sick-n-Hour Mess Age. They distain gangsta rap and its hardcore lyrics that provides it such as songs about rap, guns, drugs, money, drive by s**t, rat-a-tat-tat 41 shots bullcrap, whatever. PE HATED GANGSTA RAP!!! They were the first and so-far only rap artists to release an anti-gangsta rap album about anti gangsta rap and had the guts to prove it. Whether 1994 marked the end of PE's reign from that album along with every one of their albums released in the past 20+ years, anyone with the courage to release an anti-gangsta rap CD does not jump the shark. PE's approaching 40 then and they were moving in a different direction, away from violent Goodfellas-like rap lyrics. Chuck D and Flavor Flav regardless of thier criminal records are the richie havens of rap. Give Public Enemy a second chance, especially Muse Sick-n-Hour Mess Age.
